Window Painting - from Preschool Art

Materials:

paintbrushes
newspapers
tape
liquid tempera paints in containers

window painting

Process:

1. Tape newspaper to the bottom edges of windows to protect floors and ledges.
2. Paint on the inside of the window so rain will not wash off the painting.
3. Leave the design on the windows for days or weeks.
4. Wash the design off with a sponge and soapy water. (This is a messy job!)

Variations:

• Paint holiday scenes or designs or use holiday colors to paint any designs.
• Cover the window with a large sheet of cellophane and paint on the cellophane instead of the window.
• Paint with white shoe polish and the applicatiors which come in the polish bottles. This is very easy to clean up. White is nice for snow scenes, too.

Mix powdered tempera paint with liquid dishwashing soap and water for easier removal.
•Mix paint with white shoe polish for optional easy removal.
•The longer the paint is left on the window, the harder it is to remove.
